Abstract
This project looks at The effect of child abuse on the academic performance of junior secondary school children in katsina metropolis. The researchers adopted descriptive survey and a random sampling procedure was used to select a sample of eighty (80) respondents that participated in the study. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. Data were analyzed using percentage and frequency count table. It was found that the school does not have available teachers of social studies and the available teachers in primary school are qualified enough to teach social studies, it was also found that materials available are relevant to the teaching of social studies in their schools. The researchers recommend that teaching social studies in secondary school should be conducted in a manner that students will effectively understand and learn the concept taught.
