Abstract
This project looks into the impact of leadership theory on staff performance in public sector – a case study of Lafia local government area. The need to develop better leadership theories is becoming important in all organizations. The aim of this research work is to investigate and determine the impact of leadership theory on staff performance to the public organization. In a research work of this kind, it is imperative to determine the objective of the study, which follows the population been 200 thereafter, the sample of study which is 95 was randomly selected. It also unrevealed the instrument for data collection which includes questionnaire and interview consequently. The project is made up of five chapters that run from one to five in the same view, it’s findings revealed that trait leadership theory does not have positive effects on findings on staff, also that management leadership theory has no negative compact on staff effectiveness rather it’s motivates and ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the organization setup. It recommended that there is need for constant management training for the serial leadership in Lafia L.G.A or in a service course to acquire the knowledge of modern management technique etc. it concluded that local government staffs are happier and much more effective and efficient in their work once they are in the hands of a good managerial leader. Finally, the research suggested ways in which leadership will lead to the influence of staff for achievement of maximum output in job performance.
