Abstract
This study is an empirical analysis of the impact of monetary policy on the performance of deposit money banks in Nigeria using a case Study of Zenith Bank Plc, Bida branch. It examines the efficiency and effectiveness of the regulatory framework of monetary policy on the deposit Money Banking Operations and ancillary matters and evaluates the level of compliance of the deposit Money bank to the various regulatory policies. The objectives of the Impact of the regulatory function of monetary policy on the activities of deposit money banks in Nigeria. The types of data used for this study is primary and secondary data and the methods of data collection are questionnaires, CBN statistical bulletin, CBN annual published gazettes, using percentage, standard deviation and Chi-square test for the test of hypothesis. The findings show that the CBN regulatory policies have Impacted positively on the operations of deposit money banks. Other findings show that the stability in the banking system was a result of efficient regulation by the CBN. Therefore, the study offered recommendations that the CBN should be proactive and program in its regulations more responsive policies and the establishment of a committee of Banking Regulatory Authorities (CBRA) is proposed.
