Abstract
The need for effective inventory planning and control in a manufacturing organization is one of the most important areas to be discussed. This research work is in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of ordinary national diploma (ND) in purchasing and supply. Purchasing and supply is one of the management functions in a manufacturing organization which involves buying and selling of goods and also the management of stock. In a manufacturing organization where raw materials stock of finished goods and accessories are handled, the introduction of the need for effective inventory planning is necessary for probability and accountability to both the management and shareholders for the business whose interest, objectives and aims under which the business was establishment must be protected.
