Abstract
This project focuses on The role of local government in community development in Imo state a case study of Ohaji Egbema local government area Imo state. This research work seeks to address the issue on how local government administration acts as development administration of rural areas in Nigeria, in order to make this study reliable and relevant, a particular local authority among the 774 local government in Nigeria was used as a reference point otherwise known as a case study, the research work provides to as sufficient reason why we should concur that local government is an engine force that energized the rapid development if rural areas through the mobilization of human, material& financial resources. In chapter one of this research work, the topic was introduced and it consists of introduction, background, statement of problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, scope of the study, limitations of the study and definition of terms. Chapter two consist of literature reviews and other functions of the topic. Chapter three deals with research methodology which include research design, sources of methods of data collection population and simple size, sampling techniques, validity and reliability of measuring instrument and method of data analysis. Chapter four deals with presentation and analysis of data which consists of the questionnaire, analysis of data and interpretation of result. Finally, in chapter five the researcher had the necessary summary, conclusion and recommendations. Chapter five also contains reference from which the work was drawn.
