ABSTRACT
The research thesis sited there seeks to explore the role of the Press in the emancipation and emergency of independence a case study of Nigeria. During the course of the study, it was discovered that the Press is the back bone of all country that practices democracy. This therefore implies that the Press should be given absolute freedom to operate in a country. This freedom however should be guided. In the research work, the use of questionnaires was employed to gather the view of many individuals from some selected area in Enugu state on the research topic. The researcher made use of a sample size of 110 who was randomly chosen from a population of over 300,000 citizens. The questionnaires were collected and analysis made based on the findings.
