Abstract
Research work on Spectroscopic analysis of the first eluate of Piper Guineense extract Piper guineense is a medicinal plant that has wide application in African traditional medicine where it is often used in the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections. The extracts are also used for the treatment of various diseases like bronchitis, cough, asthma etc. In the study first a method was developed for chemical profiling, qualitative analysis of P. guineense was extracted and good mobile phase composition was developed for the thin layer chromatography (TLC) and column chromatography analysis. The GCMS and FTIR analysis showed the presence of the following compounds Guiol, Piperine, Linalool, Bicyclogermacrene, Oxalic acid isobutyl nonyl ester.
