Description

Prevalence of E.Coli in urinary tract infection among pregnant women attending Kofai primary health care.

Abstract

Various bacterial species have been implicated as etiological agents of urinary tract infection and oftentimes, these bacteria colonize the ureter, urethra and bladder before adverse events make them pathogenic. My objective was to study one of these bacteria agents namely Escherichia coli and its prevalence rate among pregnant women. All samples were processed following standard microbiological protocol. In this study 12 urine sample were collected from pregnant women attending ante-natal and analysed. The result shows that 7 representing 58.3% were positive for E. coli while 5 out of the 12 samples analyzed representing 41.7% were negative.
