Abstract

This research is on Effects of bullying on the academic performance of secondary school students in Katcha local government area of Niger state. The worked covered public secondary schools in Katcha local government, it covered both male and female teachers of the public secondary schools in both rural and urban primary school sampled and studies. The research adopted survey as the research designed for the study. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection done with help of a research assistant because the researcher adopted on the spot data collection approach in order to avoid the loss or mishandle and influence of individual views and feelings. The study revealed that NCE holders shown that teachers differ in their views on the causes of bullying among secondary school students. There was a difference between the views of rural teachers on the effects of bullying on the academic performance of students in Katcha LGA of Niger state. Qualification of teachers is a factor that determines teachers’ view on the causes of bullying on the academic performance in secondary schools in Katcha LGA of Niger state. Location of teachers was found to be a factor in determining the teachers’ view on the effects of bullying on the academic performance of secondary school students in Katcha LGA of Niger state. Gender is a factor that shown the difference in the teacher’s views on the strategic means to minimize bullying among secondary school students in ketch LGA of Niger state.
