Abstract
This project looks at Analysis Of Students Performance In West African Senior Certificate Examinations And National Examination Council In Secondary Schools. It is Aimed at Studying The Relationship Between The Free Education Policy Being Implemented In The State And Students Performance In S.S.C.E And Neco. Five Senior Secondary Schools Were Selected Randomly. Data Collected Using Questionnaire Were Summarized Using Descriptive Statistics. The Result Showed That, The Free Education Was One Of The Causes Of Student’s Failure In S.S.C.E And Neco, Because The Policy Could Not Cater For The Basic Teaching And Learning Requirements Of The Schools And It Made Both The Parents And Students To Be Nonchalant About Schooling. It Was However Recommended That, The State Government And Officials Of Ministry Of Education Should Organize Regular Special Sensitization Programmes Such As Seminars, Workshops, Conferences And In-Service Training For Senior Secondary School Teachers To Improve Their Competence In English Language And Mathematics For Better Students‘ Performance And To Update Their Knowledge On The New Development In Other Areas Of Specialization. Governments Allows The Students To Pay Their Examination In The First Place, Later On, The Government Can Refund Those Who Are Able To Score The Required Credit Passes.
