Abstract

This project is on Audience perception of Nigerian students towards television programmes, a study of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, with the intent of obtaining the students’ attitude towards television programmes in order to ascertain the ways by which programmes would be reformed and presented. Survey method was adopted for the study. Questionnaire was used to elicit responses to the research questions from 50 respondents each from the five schools in Federal Polytechnic Nekede. The findings of this study have uncovered the following that the demographics and psychographics of the students determine their preference of television programmes, the objectively of the station attributes to their perception. The study recommends that broadcast station should constantly conduct a research to find out the norms and values of their target audience (Students)in order to ascertain.  Also, broadcast stations should be reliable and objective in programme presentation so as to retain their target audience (students) this does not only apply to students but to all target audience.
