1.0 INTRODUCTION

The demand for sophisticated automated processing system, the need for even tighter process control and an increasing stringent regulatory environment drive process Engineers to seek more precise and reliable level measurement systems. Improved level measurement accuracy makes it possible to reduce chemical process variability resulting in higher product quality, reduced cost and less waste.

Regulations especially those governing electronics control records, set stringent requirement for accuracy, reliability and electronics reporting. The newer level measurements technologies help meet this requirement.

Fluid level sensors are used to indicate the level of fluid within a tank or container. Liquid level detection is critical to a wide variety of processes. There exists a wide variety of applications in which it is desired to monitor to some degree the level of a liquid within a tank or a vessel. They have widely been used in various tanks.

Liquid level is generally sensed by obtaining a discrete indication if a predetermined level has been reached, an analog representation of the level as it changes. Fluid level sensor makes use of various kind of float operated mechanism, resistance mechanism, capacitive and acoustic mechanisms. The most commonly used fluid level sensor is the variable resistor sensor utilizing a float to produce a resistance change in the variable resistor.

Capacitive liquid level generally includes a reference capacitor adapted to be fully submerged in the liquid and a measuring capacitor. Liquid level electrooptical sensor utilizing operates on the principle of different indices of refraction between the transparent body of a probe and a gaseous medium above the liquid.

This project illustrates the construction and working of a water level indicator/sensor. Such an indicator is used in tanks to indicate the level of liquids and alert us when the tank is full. So by this circuit, we can monitor the various levels of the tank and can avoid spillage of water and also we can configure our supplies according to the various levels of tank. Such module or circuit can be installed in big buildings where Manual monitor of tanks is difficult and its indicator can be placed at some centralized place.

1.1 AIMS AND OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this project is to develop water level sensor/ detector to maintain the outlet process of the water level at its desired level.
