Design and fabrication of a pedal operated groundnut stripper machine. The pedal operated groundnut stripping machine is a machine used in stripping groundnut pods from its stalk for the development of the agricultural sector. The machine is designed so as to prevent high labour and time consumption as in the case of using the traditional method done manually by hand, the output gotten from this method was very low and time-consuming. The machine is portable, it does not require much space and it is of low cost, and affordable to the farmers. The machine is fabricated with metal sheets, square pipe, shaft, bearings, pedal, pulley, flat bars, nuts and bolts, and belt. The machine is fabricated by cutting, welding and assembled by using nuts and bolts. The machine was tested and the required result to stripe groundnut without damage to the pods was gotten. The machine has the capacity of stripping 1.089kg of groundnut per hour with a stripping efficiency of 91.4%. . | Abstract
This engineering project looks at the Fabrication of an industrial trolley. The trolley is a mechanism that allowed man to transfer their heavy items such as computers, files and etc. to other places. It helps man to do their work without having a problem due to the heavy loading. It also helps to reduce pain in the waist, back, hand and feet. No matter how light the loading is, people usually will have severe pain in their body if lifting the items many times. So, this is when the people rely upon a trolley that can transfer items many times with just a little effort. From the statement above conclude that the trolley playing a major role as an item transferring mechanism for people without having a problem doing that. A trolley also functioned as a helper to people to hold items orderly while transferring between rough lands. The trolley was constructed in the welding workshop where marking and cutting was the first approach in the construction. The cutting of the steel galvanized pipe and plate will be used for fabrication. Metal welding was the next step, all parts were joined together using a welding machine and an electrode. Flat bar was bent to an appropriate angle and attached to the trolley which serves as a base to lock and open the cylinder. The industrial trolley was tested and it was able to carry 50kg weight of oxygen and acetylene cylinder. This engineering project looks at Fabrication of a pepper grinding machine. The process of crushing and grinding domestic product into powdered form was approached and achieved in this project work taking into account some necessary modifications due to the limitation found in the previous design machine. With the continuous improvement and advancement in the present days, technology has brought the invention and making of diverse types and shapes of machines. These machines require different kinds of energy for their operation and to produce useful work and it does not waste time. Most of them are operated manually or electrically. Basically, the pepper grinding machine is a useful device for achieving the grinding of agricultural products like pepper foodstuff and all types of grinding operations. In this grinding mill, the urge shaft is adequately supported with bearing to reduce the supporting materials. The posterior is also fabricated in such a way that there is room for adequate lubrication. These adequate supports have given to the urge shaft help to reduce the frictional forces and thereby ensuring the long lifespan of the machine. This engineering project focuses on the Design and construction of a pneumatic water pumping machine. Water is a universal solvent and by implication is widely known as the most treasured natural resource since the beginning of the world. Consequently, the medium through which water can be transported and supplied to diverse locations for varied purposes has posed a problem in our society today. A lot of solutions have been suggested and put in place to remedy this problem. Water pumping machines, both mechanically, electrically and manually operated types have been designed and manufactured by different manufacturers to serve in several aspects of life such as for domestic purposes, in hospitals, educational institutions, oil and gas sector and so on. The primary aim of this project is to design and manufacture or construct a pneumatically operated water pumping system in which the pumping action is initiated through the air introduce to the impeller from the air compressor. Nigeria depends heavily on the importation of goods and machines. A shift from this trend requires the development of locally available technology. Available technology was utilized in the design and fabrication of the external gear pump. The design considered relevant theories and principles which affect the performance of a pump. This engineering project looks at the Fabrication of electrical popcorn machine. An electric popcorn machine is a machine that is used to pop com for human consumption. It uses electricity as its source of energy, transfer heat energy, that is used to rotate due to the convention of electrical energy from the source to mechanical energy in the motor, the stirrer turns the corn so that it will not burn. This project went as far as meeting most of the requirements of advancement in technology, which lead to making work easy and comfortable for the user. To be candid, the burden of mankind because of the existence of technology for this reasons, the government is expected to encourage the young technologist and engineers who have graduated and those who are yet to be graduated from school. By providing them with financial assistance, installation of functional and adequate equipment and facility various installations, competent and qualified personnel and in addition making education free for those who are not financially buoyant. This engineering project looks at the Design and fabrication of a portable cassava grater. There is a need for the hygienic processing of cassava. Prevalent condition in the commercial grating area of this staple food shows susceptibility of food contamination. This project addresses the need for the development of a home-scale cassava grater where the materials, the tuber s of cassava being grated can be properly monitored. Some design considerations used in this project are the machine should be efficient during use in the household as well as moveable (portable) and Safety or easily operated. Another problem considered is that cassava produces a large amount of cyanogenic glycosides, so in selecting materials, for construction, adequate care must be taken not to use materials that cannot degrade/corrode easily due to the acidic content in cassava. The main component which is made from mild steel which consists of major parts namely, the mainframe which is constructed with angle iron which gives strength and rigidity to the war all matins, the hopper/s receptacle through which cassava is admitted into the machine for grating, the grating unit consist of the shaft, perforated mesh rolled sheet, circular disc and rival pins, the discharge unit which direct the flow of the grated cassava to a storage pit or receptacle, and the electric motor which is made from cast iron and winding horsepower of the machine. The capacity of the grater fabricated was 158kg/hr. The unit cost is #62,100 as against the #75,000 for the current grating unit in the market. |
