Abstract The problems of fake drugs have taken a dangerous dimension in the country over the past few decades. It has been pointed out that the problem of fake drugs which has fast becoming a nagging issue has been associated with the increase causes of untimely deaths among youths and adults. It was perhaps in realization of the grave consequences of this menace that the Federal Government of Nigeria set up the National Agencies for Food, Drugs Administrative Control[NAFDAC].The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is a Nigerian government agency under the Federal Ministry of Health that is responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, advertisement, distribution, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals and prepackaged water. One of the ways with which the Body instituted by the Government tackled the problem of fake drug distribution was through the registration of any manufactured or imported drug with the agency. After tests had been conducted on the drugs and the drugs certified to be safely consumable by the general public, a special registration number dubbed the“NAFDAC Number” would be assigned to the packaging of the drug. However the means by which members of the general public can verify the authenticity of the NAFDAC numbers found on the drugs purchased by them remains limited. Hence this research project seeks to find ways to enable members of the general public have the means to conveniently verify the authenticity of the NAFDAC numbers on the products that they consume through the implementation of an Online Drug Registration and Verification Solution.
