Abstract
This project work is on Effect of merger and acquisition on organization effectiveness and profitability. An infant industry finds it hard to thrive in an economic system, such as Nigeria, which is very sensitive. The quality of service rendered, and its competitiveness with other firms, necessitates it to merge with other firms. This research attempts to examine the effect of merger and acquisition on the firm’s effectiveness in attaining its profitability, and examines the type of merger and its maintenance so as to embrace effectiveness. The research carried out on GlaxoSmithKline Nig Plc came to conclusion that merger and acquisition is needed in an organization to accommodate threats and gain better opportunities in order to strengthen the position of the firm and should be made rigid.
