Abstract
Influence of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on journalism practice – a study of Akwa Ibom broadcasting Corporation, Uyo. This research work was on the influence of ICTs on journalism practice in Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Cooperation, Uyo. The objective of this study was to ascertain the extent ICTs has created employment opportunities and more knowledge for journalist in AKBC and the extent ICTs has contributed to the practice of Journalism in AKBC, Uyo. A survey method was used in this study with a total population of eighty-five (85), but 80 questionnaires were returned and consequently analyzed for the study. The findings of this study revealed that to a large extent ICTs have enhanced the productivity, efficiency and improvement of journalists in AKBC. The study recommended that government should not only provide the basic ICTs needed for the practice of journalism but should maintain them in Akwa Ibom broadcasting corporation as it is a government-owned establishment.
