Failure to thrive is a common condition that is often multi-factorial in etiology and the majority of cases are due to psycho-social problems rather than organic diseases. On eating an egg among children is a taboo in their community, 76% of them disagreed to the statement. 86% agreed that they have been health-educated on things that caused FTT in children. And there was no significant difference between sociocultural factors and mothers’ knowledge of the causes of failure to thrive among children birth-5 years. Recommendations were made that The nurses should always support mothers whose children age birth-5 years suffering from failure to thrive with adequate information on preventive measures of the failure to thrive in the hospital and Mothers should cooperate with the health providers as much as possible as this will give the best support in the management of the failure to thrive in their children..
