Abstract

This project examines the Perception of sickle cell aneamia among pregnant woman attending turai yar’adua maternity and children’s hospital katsina. The research design was essentially a survey research; the researchers used randomly sampling and selected hundred (100) volunteer’s pregnant women attending the area of study. Findings from this study were discussed and recommendations were made for instance: (the questionnaire was distributed to 100 female’s respondents in the area of study, majority of the respondents are 25 years above and are married. Majority of the respondents are ssce holders, most of the people there are patients of sickle cell anaemia, and most of the respondents pregnant women, the government assist in providing medical help to patients in the hospital, it was also discovered that an unborn child can contact sickle cell anaemia and if not treated well it could lead to death etc. The following recommendations were made; patient with the disease should take medical advice seriously, 2. Government should allocate more funds to health sector, 3. The government should also create hospitals for only patients with sickle cell anemia especially for married women.
