Abstract
This project looks at the Role of health education in the prevention of indiscriminate solid waste disposal in Egah Idah Lga, Kogi state. Wastes are seen to be useless and unwanted or discarded materials at a particular time and place arising from normal activities from the community, when waste are not properly managed or disposed of it can cause a deleterious effect to human and its environment. Demographical data were used to collect information from 50 respondents randomly selected using cluster sampling in the study area. Simple frequency and percentage were used to analyze the data collected from the selected samples. From the results, there are indications that health education has gone a long way in changing the wrong perception of the people as per solid waste management/ disposal of community waste and in view of these it was recommended that more effort should be intensified by health educators/ environmental health officers in health educating the people for sustainability.
