Description
Abstract
This project looks at Seasonal decomposition of the occurrence of road accident. Road accident has become an economic burden over the years as it result to loss of lives and properties. It is therefore imperative to examine occurrence of road accident as affected by the components of time series since the occurrence is time dependent (based). Using the multiplicative model of the time series, the result indicated that the occurrence of road accident is affected by seasonal and irregular variation. It was concluded that accidents tend to occur more in the second and fourth quarters of every year with constant mean and variance. The trend forecast of the deseasonalized data indicated a decrease in road accident. The study recommended that the Federal Road Safety Commission in Nigeria carry out regular sensitization during the second and fourth quarter of every year and that motorist should be mindful of using the road in these periods.
