Abstract
This project looks at the effect of financial discipline on good governance at the local government level in Kogi state with particular reference to Okene local government area. The sources/methods used in data collection were basically primary and secondary sources. The data were analyzed using simple percentage method for easy understanding. The findings revealed that the management of Okene Local Government has not done enough in instilling discipline in its personnel which has resulted in a high level of financial misappropriation. It was also revealed that the local government has failed totally in terms of sending its staff for training and development. At the end of the research, it was recommended that Okene Local Government should provide the needed material for the revenue collectors. There is ALSO the need for prudence and accountability in the process of revenue collection while the local government should embark on training that will help in educating its personnel on the need for prudent financial discipline.
