Abstract

This project studies The impact of food shortage on the health of childbearing woman in Lapai LGA of Niger State. In the past, food shortage occurred only in specific communities in times of prolonged war or severe droughts and natural disasters. Today hunger and famine are the worst enemies of the human population. The coordinator of the right to food unit of Food Agricultural Organizations (FAO) asserted that the right to food is the right of every person to have access to sufficient, nutritionally adequate and culturally acceptable food for an active healthy life. However, this life can only be achieved when there is food security. Availability and physical food security are important to ensure women’s health.

Abstract
This research focuses on Factors influencing the incidence of glaucoma among adult patients in general hospitals in Anambra state. To achieve the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being of the population there is need to create awareness and stimulate actions from the community to achieve health. However, there seems to be no relationship between health practices and the information available on people’s health in Anambra State. The central issue of this study is to identify the factors responsible for the spread of glaucoma in Anambra State by studying the records of adult patients in the three general hospitals in Anambra State with functional eye clinics for the period between 2002 and 2006 with appropriate research questions and hypothesis formulated tot obtain data for the solution. The literature on past studies on the factors influencing the incidence of glaucoma and its management in Nigeria is reviewed. The Social Learning Theory and the Health Belief Model (HBM) are used as the theoretical framework. The study is designed as both a descriptive and a Cohort Survey seeking to describe the distribution and incidence of glaucoma within Anambra state of persons who experienced the same life event from 2002 to 2006. The random sampling technique was used with the multi-stage sampling procedure and the use of tables and percentages in data presentation. The Chi-squared (X2) was used in testing the hypotheses proposed. Factors influencing the incidence of glaucoma among adult patients in general hospitals in Anambra state between 2002 and 2006 based on 1446 patients and 200 questionnaires administered on general hospital staff included family history, increased 10P, and others with a variable incidence rate and an increased level of public awareness. The increase in health education and eye examination centers are recommended and the level of awareness of the glaucoma disease and its control is recommended for more intense studies.

Abstract
This research work is on the Role of orthopedic cast technician in the management of ankle injury in national orthopedic hospital, Dala, Kano. In the simplest terms possible, orthopedic medicine is devoted to diagnosing and treating the problem of the musculoskeletal system in human beings. There are various methods in the management of musculoskeletal problems. One such method is the use of casts. Management of a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions requires the use of a cast or splint. The musculoskeletal system is responsible for enabling human beings to move efficiently. The system consists of the body’s bone, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments joints and other connective tissue injuries to the musculoskeletal system which often affects a person’s ability to move about in an efficient manner, resulting in a deterioration of their quality of life. Orthopedic medicine can treat a variety of injuries to the musculoskeletal system resulting from some of the following situations, Musculoskeletal Trauma, Sports Injuries, Degenerative Diseases, and Congenital Disorders. Selection of a specific cast or splint varies based on the area of the body being treated, and on the acuity and stability of the injury. Indication and accurate application techniques varies for each type of splint and cast commonly encountered in orthopedic settings.
