Abstract

The problems of indigenous book publishing in nigeria – case study of Spring Field Publisher, Owerri. This project was based on the problems of book publishing using Spring Field Publisher Owerri as the case study. Descriptive research method was used in this study with questionnaires as instruments for data collection. The population of the study is of sixteen (16) which consists of all the staff in the publisher. Also, the data collected were analyzed using frequency count and percentages. The findings of this study revealed that a lot of challenges are facing indigenous publishing which include lack of trained personnel, inadequate manpower, lack of funding, poor power supply, lack of distribution channels e.t.c. Recommendations of the study include the following, effort should be made in the publishing house to provide well-trained staff that can operate machines, acquire modern machines etc. The study hopes that the recommendation would make our indigenous publishing overcome their challenges
