Abstract
This study investigated the Application of Information and Communication Technology in the Management of Nigerian Academic Libraries in Dame Patience Jonathan Automated Library. The study had specific objectives which are to examine the extent of Information and Communication Technology use in the management of Nigerian academic libraries in Dame Patience Jonathan Automated Library, to identify the Information and Communication Technology availability in the management of Nigerian academic libraries in Dame Patience Jonathan Automated Library, to ascertain the types of Information and Communication Technology facilities available in the management of Nigerian academic libraries in Dame Patience Jonathan Automated Library and to Identify the challenges of Information and Communication Technology use in the management of Nigerian academic libraries in Dame Patience Jonathan Automated Library. This study adopted the descriptive survey research design. For effective analysis of the topic, data were collected only from primary and secondary sources. The study concluded that Information and Communication Technology application in a library is one in which computer systems are utilized to handle one or more library routine systems such as acquisition, serial control, cataloguing and the Online Public Access Catalogue. It was recommended that Libraries and Librarians as providers of information on all aspects of human development must redefine their roles and professional responsibilities to meet the challenges posed by the changing information world order..
