CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Wilcoxon signedrank test is a nonparametric statistical hypothesis test used when comparing two related samples, matched samples, or repeated measurements on a single sample to assess whether their population mean ranks differ i.e. it is a paired difference test. It can be used as an alternative to the paired Students ttest, ttest for matched pairs, or the ttest for dependent samples when the population cannot be assumed to be normally distributed.

The Wilcoxon signedrank test is not the same as the Wilcoxon ranksum test, although both are nonparametric and involve summation of ranks.

The Wilcoxon signedrank test is the nonparametric test equivalent to the dependent ttest. As the Wilcoxon signedrank test does not assume normality in the data, it can be used when this assumption has been violated and the use of the dependent ttest is inappropriate. It is used to compare two sets of scores that come from the same participants. This can occur when we wish to investigate any change in scores from one time point to another, or when individuals are subjected to more than one condition

This function is used to test whether the medians of two populations are equal. This test requires input data to be matched pairs, for example, data from before and after a clinical operation. This test can be one or twotailed.

1.2 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The broad aim of this research work is to text the rule of APC and PDP in Nasarawa state.

The specific objectives are as following:

To determine the general forms and differences between the APC and PDP rule

To identify their significance difference.

To ascertain there rule pattern among the two party.

To know the contribution of the APC versus the PDP rule in Nasarawa state.

1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This research work will bring to light the difference between the both party rule in Nasarawa state, with the significant different from the analysis of this research work it will help the next generation position aspirant to know which party to follow or join.
