Description
Abstract
This project is on Design and construction of a Three phase (3-f) automatic change over switch. The instability in power supply creates a need for alternative sources which serves as back up to the utility, but with a major challenge in switching over ‘safely’ from one source to another without any risk of electrocution to the operator/operations Engineer. Thus, this seminar demonstrates the efficacy of a phase selector in a three phase power system using an embedded controller for real time calculation and selection of one out of three phases in a three phase power system. A clearly defined protocol is laid down for the random selection of a default supply voltage via a pre-loaded program in the master controller formed by a microcontroller. This scheme when fully applied will go a long way in combating the stress associated with the manual manipulation of the control switch in the advent of power fluctuation.
