Abstract
This project is on impact of fraud detective and preventive measures in a government organization, using Konshisha Local Government of Benue State as a case study. This study adopted two methods of data collection which are: primary and secondary method of data collection. Primary data are gotten from a structured questionnaire that was administered to the staff of the local government council. Out of the sixty (60) questionnaires administered, forty-seven (47) were duly filled and returned which therefore constitute the sample size for the study. The secondary method adopted was a review of past related works of literature and consultations of books, journals, articles and magazines in the related field of study. Findings from the study revealed that majority of the staff have an understanding of what fraud detective and preventive measure is, fraud exists in Konshisha Local Government just as it exists in most government organizations in Nigeria, fraud can be detected and that if fraud detection and prevention measures are improved in an organization, development will be encouraged in an organization, management involvement in fraud detection and prevention struggle accelerates total eradication or reduction in governmental fraud state and that application of fraud detection and prevention measures is not the only savior to resources miss-appropriation in government organization. Finally, fraud detective and preventive measures have a great impact in government organizations.
