Abstract

This study looks at Influence of unethical practice on news reporting, a study of Observer Benin city. The study is designed to find out if unethical practice affects news reporting. Descriptive survey research method was employed in the data presentation using simple percentage. A total of 100 copies of questionnaires were distributed. The questionnaires were the instrument for data collection and from findings, only 100 copies were retrieved out of the 100 copies administered. From the findings, it showed that unethical practice affects news judgment and unethical practice in journalism leads to falsification in news reporting thereby acceptance of other Unethical Practice influence news reporting. It was recommended that media organizations should take proper care of the welfare of their staff. They should be ready to offer proper transportation, feeding and accommodation allowances to their staff members whenever they were sent on assignments and since media practitioners believe that the culture of corruption in the media is unethical, journalism organizations should be encouraged to embark on massive campaigns against any form of corrupt practice in the media.
