Abstract

This research work titled“Planning and Decision Making in Nigeria Public Service (A Study of The Polytechnic Bali), carried out the research successfully, the researcher set the following objectives: to examine the importance of planning towards achieving sound decision making, the role played by planning in an institution. to examine the issue of decision making improved in public service in an organization. The theory researcher used was Simon Decision Making theory. To successfully carry out this research, three questions were formulated and structured questionnaires was designed based on the research questions. The survey design was adopted, the target population of the study was 2200 population and 338 respondents were used as sample size. To find solutions for planning and decision making in public service, the researcher used primary and secondary data as it was only restricted to the Polytechnic Bali, Taraba State. A sample of 338 respondents was selected using arithmetic sampling technique.  The data collected was analysed and presented in a simple tabular form for easy understanding. Also, simple percentages were used for further analysis. The study also uses both descriptive and analytical methods in analyzing the data from the sampled area and recommended were made the managers of the organization should plan well for better strategies to make meaningful development in their business organization, this study will also serve as reference material for students of business management conducting research on planning and decision making..
