This stattistical project looks at Statistical analysis on impact of parental hood on academic performance of polytechnic students. The sample for the study consisted of 150 students drawn from the department of Mathematics and statistics randomly selected in Niger state polytechnic zungeru, Niger State. A valid questionnaire was used for data collection and the data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using the Chi-square statistical method. The two null hypotheses formulated were tested at .05 level of significance. The result obtained reveals that For parental upbringing against students academic performance, Pearson Chi-Square 6.358, DF 4, P-Value 0.174 as obtained, since the p-value exceeds the significant level (0.05) we, therefore, fail to reject null hypothesis there is no enough evidence to reject null hypothesis. Parental upbringing has no influence academic achievement of student in the Niger state polytechnic also for the family type against academic performance, Pearson Chi-Square 3.262, DF 4, P-Value 0.515, DF 4 since the p-value exceeds the significant level (0.05) we, therefore, fail to reject null hypothesis. there is no enough evidence to reject null hypothese. On the basis of these findings, it was recommended that school counselors should be employed in all schools and that they should provide necessary assistance to students especially those from single-parent family to enable them to overcome their emotional concerns.
