Abstract
This project looks at The importance of cartoons in newspaper journalism. The study examined the importance of cartoons in newspaper journalism. Cartooning reflects social attitude and provide a vehicle through which people can voice feeling for which there is no socially acceptable or easy accessible outlet. Primary and secondary data were used in gathering information for the study. The secondary data will come as a review of documented materials, while the primary data will be obtained with the help of questionnaire and oral interview. Questionnaires were distributed to 100 respondents who were selected to be the total number of population to be studied. Descriptive statistics was used for the data collected. This involves the use of variables, percentages and frequency table measurement. The findings of the study show that cartooning in newspaper is of benefit to both the print media (newspaper specially) and the reading public.
