Abstract
This project is on The Role of Local Government in Development of Democracy with emphasis on Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State. The major objective of the work is to look at the level of development in Ijumu Local Government, primary and secondary sources of data were used while simple percentage method was used in analyzing the data. The findings revealed that the majority of people involved in the democratic process in Nigeria has been ground one way or the order form local level. At the end of the research, the researcher recommended that: local government in Nigeria should be made to be more financially stable and independent.
