Use of health information system of students of library and information science department in Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri.
Abstract
This project was based on the use of health information system of Students of library and information science in Nekede. The study was carried out based on (6) six objectives which were used to form the questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. The population study is (78) seventy eight which is the total number of ND students in the Department of Library and Information Science in Imo State University. Also, the data collected were analyzed using frequency counts and percentages. The findings of the study revealed that a lot of challenges are facing the library against the effective use of health information systems which includes: inadequate funding, lack of library users, lack of authors to produce/publish new books, and lack of automated system. Recommendation of the study includes: urgent provision of funds for the acquisition of books for awareness services, user orientation program should be carried out periodically to inculcate in the users effective usage of the library, use of health information system should be automated. The researcher hopes that the recommendations will help the library overcome its challenges if applied..
