USING EMPLOYEE APPRAISAL TO EVALUATE WORK PERFORMANCE IN BUSINESS ORGANISATION IN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

This research work is designed to know the extent in which employee appraisal can be used to evaluate work performance any business organisation in Nigeria. And it is crystal clear that, the corporate objectives of any establishment are to make profit and continuity. These however, cannot be achieved successfully overnight unless there is serious commitment of the employees in such an organisation to work task before them. The research objectives which attempt to evaluate how employees performance appraisal promotes effective work performance in an organisation, and also an attempt to assess how appraisal reveal the needs of potential of employees. This research work adopts survey research to obtain data and data were basically primary data. The Chisquare test was used to test the hypothesis. It was concluded that the success of staff appraisal depends on the management and staff of the organisation. In conclusion, it was recommended that there should be flow of information between the boss and subordinate as regards the standard of performance and behaviour expected in the relation to the area to be appraised.
