Abstract
This research work is on the assessment of the causes and implications of unemployment and high rate of crime among the youths in Nigeria – a case study of Bida local government. This project work is made up of five chapters. The main thrust of this study was to Assess The Causes And Implications Of Unemployment And High Rate Of Crime Among The Youths In Nigeria To achieve this objective, the study elicited data through questionnaire from randomly selected respondents comprising of policemen/women from police departments lawyers from the state judiciary headquarters as well as clergymen and members of the public in the aforementioned study area. Simple percentage method was used to analyze data. Findings show that there is a correlation between unemployment and crime. The researcher also finds out that crime is significantly dependent on the unemployment of the Nigerian youth. Findings from the study show that the prevalence of crime of rubbery, stealing, it is as a result of laxity in the law implementation process to prosecute offenders. Consequent to this finding, it is suggested that parents who normally neglect their parental responsibilities to care for their children. It is very pathetic to observe that some parents do not accept the fact that they owned us any duty. The government also should endeavor to create employment for the teeming population of youths as this will assist in controlling the crime rate in the local government.
