Abstract
This research looks at Analysis of challenges facing freedom of information act on investigative journalism practice in Nigeria. This study was guided by the following objectives to examine the challenges faced in investigative journalism, to know the attitude of various governments towards investigative journalism in Nigeria, to ascertain the relevance of investigative journalism to the development of Nigeria, to view the possible constitutional laws backing the practice of investigative journalism in Nigeria and to examine the various ways by which media practitioners have been able to cope with the various challenges of investigative journalism. The theories used for this project are Libertarian Press Theory and Social Responsibility Theory. To know this, 150 copies of questionnaires was administered to critically examine the topic. The use of questionnaires is because of its necessity in survey research it provides the means of discove1ring the prevailing attitude and reactions of population. This project work also goes the extra-mile of highlighting the various problems faced by journalists in gathering information, the meaning of journalism and little about journalists and power to require information, the meaning of press freedom and its element, code of ethics for Nigerian Journalists. All these and some others are treated in this project work.
