Abstract

This research study looks at Influence of home viewing television on academic performance of children in higher basic education, a study of our lady’s High school, Effurun. The study is designed to determine how many hours do children of Higher Basic Education spend viewing television during weekdays. Descriptive survey research method was employed in the data presentation using simple percentage. A total of 120 copies of questionnaires were distributed. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection however only 118 copies were retrieved out of the 120 copies administered. It was recommended that the production of more informative and educational programs can help to create the awareness among the adolescents of the country and the program on physical activities and exercises must be broadcasted regularly so that it can inculcate and incite the children to take part in different physical activities practically rather than just to watch television in their leisure time.
