Abstract

This research is on the uses of information and communication technology (ICT) on record management – problems and prospect. The research was to examine the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) on record management problems and prospects using Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja. as a case study. Information Communication Technology (ICT) is one of the most prominent and efficient tools devised for record management. This paper reviews the concept of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and the benefit of using it for record management. It highlights the need for record keeping in an organization. The paper also identified the problems facing the usage of Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities for record management and proffered solutions that could enhance record management in an organization. The population was Fifty-six (56) Office Managers twenty-five (25) was used as sample size. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaires, some of the findings are that Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities are very imperative in an organization for record management and that the major prospect of Information Communication Technology (ICT) on record management is that good judgment based on fact and figures will prevail. It was also recommended that records should be made manually because of the problems that may be encountered when retrieving records electronically and that Antivirus should be installed in all the computers to avoid damage of records.
