Description
Abstract This study focuses on the design and implementation of a web-based cooperative society thrift management system, a case study of Federal University Otuoke staff multipurpose cooperative society (FUOSMCOS). The existing system lacks centralized control thereby leading to the inaccessibility of funds as members are not able to access funds as at when needed irrespective of their location. Also, the existing system lacks availability as traditional systems have time-bound, this also affects members who are busy in their schedule. Hence, the web-based system is built to address these issues of accessibility and availability to funds and facilitate stable and efficient management of members’ records which will also eliminate data duplication. The system is implemented using relevant web development tools like HTML5, CSS3, PHP, Javascript and MySQL for database management. The functionality of the system is tested using FUOSMCOS as the case study.
