Abstract
This study is to examine the Relevance of Entrepreneurial Development to Self-Employment of Polytechnic Graduates. The descriptive survey design was used for the study because it focuses on people, the vital facts of people and their beliefs, options attitudes motivations and behavior. The rate of poverty is accentuated by the increasing rate of unemployment, high level of illiteracy, corruption and bad governance among others. The introduction of entrepreneurship education in tertiary institutions is intended to empower the graduates irrespective of their area of specialization with skills that will enable them to engage in income yielding ventures if they are unable to secure jobs in the labour market and public sector. The result of the study confirmed that the introduction of entrepreneurship education to graduates of tertiary institutions aims to enlarge the base of entrepreneurs in order to hasten the pace at which new ventures are created. This accelerates employment generations and economic development. Furthermore, entrepreneurship development concentrates more on growth potential and innovation. Essentially this means the acquisition of skills that will enable an entrepreneur to function appropriately.
