Abstract
This study investigated the effect of cultural diversity on employee performance at the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State. Specifically, the study aims to find out the effect of cultural diversity on employee performance at the Federal University of Technology Minna. The study adopted or employed a survey research method (otherwise called a communication approach). The population of the study consists of all staff members employed at the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State. Given that the staff population is over 4025, (9) schools in FUT, Minna as of the 2021/2022 academic session. The researchers randomly selected 65 staff from nine (9) schools within FUT, Minna. The reason for this choice of sample technique was that staff are typically busy people with limited time. It may be difficult for them to create time from their tight schedules to complete questionnaires all at once, therefore basic random sampling, which is known to have significant flaws, is used. Hence Survey Questionnaires was used. The results of the returned questionnaires were captured on statistical packages for social science (SPSS) for analysis and interpretation. The data was analyzed using descriptive and quantitative techniques. This study”s findings suggest that language differences have a positive and statistically significant effect on employee performance, while customs traditions and religious differences do not have a significant effect on employee performance. The study recommends that organizations should value language diversity and provide opportunities for employees to learn and use multiple languages. This can help to improve communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which can lead to improved employee performance. Organizations should also develop policies and practices that promote cultural inclusion and respect for diversity. This can help to create a workplace where all employees feel valued and respected, regardless of their cultural background.
